The FcgammaRIIIA/CD16a protein is a receptor for IgG and is optimally activated upon binding of aggregated antigen-IgG complexes, inducing antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC). It mediates IgG effector function on natural killer cells, limiting viral load.
