    Rabbit polyclonal to FOS.The Fos gene family consists of 4 members: FOS, FOSB, FOSL1, and FOSL2. These genes encodeleucine zipper proteins that can dimerize with proteins of the JUN family, thereby forming thetranscription factor complex AP-1. The FOS proteins have been implicated as important regulators ofcell proliferation, differentiation and transformation. FOS also plays a critical function in regulating thedevelopment of cells destined to form and maintain the skeleton. In some cases, FOS expression hasbeen associated with apoptotic cell death.
