  • Scientific Description
Characteristics: This protein carries a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus. The protein has a calculated MW of 52.8 kDa. The protein migrates as 62 kDa under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation. Description: Lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP),a member of the BPI/LBP/Plunc superfamily, BPI/LBP family, is detected in blood serum. LBP plays a role in the innate immune response. Alao,LBP can bind to the lipid A moiety of bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), a glycolipid present in the outer membrane of all Gram-negative bacteria, and act as an affinity enhancer for CD14, facilitating its association with LPS. Furthermore, LBP is able to promote the release of cytokines in response to bacterial lipopolysaccharide.
