  • Scientific Description
4-[3-(4-iodophenyl)-2-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-2H-5-tetrazolio]-1,3-benzenedisulfonate sodium salt (IPB) have found application in clinical assays and cell proliferation assays that are based on a spectrophotometric measurement of dehydrogenase activities of cells. Disulfonated tetrazolium salt IPB, that produces a highly water-soluble formazan dye that proved to be extremely useful as a cell-viability indicator. IPB is reduced by reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) to formazan in the presence of a redox mediator such as 1-methoxy PMS, which provides the basis to specrophotometric assays of NADH. - Chemical.
