Methylenedisalicylic acid is a potent inhibitor of MarR family transcription factor A (MgrA) and Ser/Thr kinase (Stp1) that enhances SarA/MgrA phosphorylation through inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus Stp1, with an IC50 value of 9.68 ± 0.52 uM when acting on Stp1.In addition, Methylenedisalicylic acid can also be used as a lead compound in the study of methods to reduce staphylococcal toxicity.
