  • Scientific Description
Characteristics: This protein carries a mouse IgG1 Fc tag at the N-terminus. The protein has a calculated MW of 101.1 kDa. The protein migrates as 116 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation. Description: Transferrin receptor protein 2 (TFR2) is a single-pass type II membrane protein with a protease associated (PA) domain, an M28 peptidase domain and a transferrin receptor-like dimerization domain. The mutations in TFR2 gene have been associated with hereditary hemochromatosis type III. Furthermore, TFR2 is involved in the uptake of transferrin-bound iron into cells by endocytosis, although its role is minor compared to transferrin receptor 1.
