Nipamovir is a nitroimidazole prodrug that exhibits antiviral activity comparable to SAMT-247 and NS-1040 in cellular assays and a human ex vivo model of HIV infection, with low toxicity. Nipamovir has EC50 values of 3.64+/-3.28 and 3.23+/-2.81 microM for CEM-SS/HIV-1RF and hPBMC/HIV-192HT599, respectively [1].
