Nirsevimab, also known as MEDI8897, is a recombinant neutralizing monoclonal antibody developed against human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). It is an IgG1kappa antibody, that has a triple mutation in the Fc region designed to increase its serum half-life. The YTE (M252Y/S254T/T256E) mutation increases the binding of the antibody to the FcRn n(eonatal Fc receptor) at acidic pH, enhancing the receptor mediated recycling and extending its circulation.
