The PCSK6 protein is a serine endoprotease that plays a key role in preprotein processing by cleavage at sites with paired basic amino acids, specifically recognizing the RXXX[KR]R consensus motif. Its function may be involved in the constitutive secretory pathway, with a unique and limited distribution in neuroendocrine and non-neuroendocrine tissues.
