PD-1 protein is an inhibitory receptor on T cells that maintains immune tolerance by binding to CD274/PDCD1L1 and CD273/PDCD1LG2. It blocks T cell activation by binding to CD3-TCR and recruiting PTPN11/SHP-2 to dephosphorylate key signaling molecules.
