Pirfenidone is an inhibitor for TGF-beta production and TGF-beta stimulated collagen production, reduces production of TNF-alpha and IL-1beta, and also has anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory properties. Pirfenidone attenuates chemokine (CC motif) ligand-2 (CCL2) and CCL12 production with anti-fibrotic activity. Phase 3.
