Interleukin-2

The product contains polyhedrin protein co-crystalized with mature human Interleukin-2 (IL-2). IL-2 is a cytokine that plays a key role in immune response and tolerance. It is produced majorly by activated CD4-positive helper T-cells and to a lesser extent by activated CD8-positive T-cells and natural killer (NK) cells. Mature human IL-2 shares 56% and 66% amino acid identity with mouse and rat IL-2, respectively. Human and mouse IL-2 exhibit cross-species activity. In cell culture, IL-2 is commonly used for the proliferation, differentiation, and increased antibody secretion of B cells. It is also used for expansion of NK cells, early differentiated T cells and effector memory Treg cells for cancer immunotherapy.
