The product contains the polyhedrin protein co-crystalized with Human Thrombopoietin. Thrombopoietin (TPO) is a key regulator of the cellular development processes that lead to platelet production, including differentiation, proliferation and maturation of megakaryocytes. TPO is a growth factor that also promotes platelet activation, aggregation and ECM adhesion. Furthermore, TPO can act in coordination with cytokines such as IL-3, IL-6 or IL-11, particularly during the early stages of thrombopoiesis. Separately from its hematopoietic effects, TPO is also expressed in the brain where it can inhibit neuronal differentiation as well as promote apoptosis of hypoxia-sensitised neurons.
