The ROCK1 protein is a key kinase that regulates the actin cytoskeleton, cell polarity, smooth muscle contraction, and multiple cellular functions. It controls stress fibers, focal adhesion formation, neurite retraction, and cell motility by phosphorylating substrates such as DAPK3, GFAP, LIMK1, LIMK2, MYL9/MLC2, TPPP, PFN1, and PPP1R12A.
