STEAP1 protein

STEAP1 protein lacks the necessary binding sites for the electron-donating substrate NADPH, therefore it does not function as a metalloreductase. However, when fused to the NADPH-binding domain of STEAP4, it can facilitate the reduction of Fe(3+).
