The TCN1 protein is critical for mitochondrial processes and binds to the mitochondrial light chain promoter to regulate mitochondrial transcription. As a key component of the mitochondrial transcription initiation complex (including TFB2M and POLRMT), TCN1 plays a crucial role in the basal transcription of mitochondrial DNA.
