TPST1 (tyrosyl protein sulfotransferase 1) catalyzes the O-sulfation of tyrosine residues located within the acidic motifs of polypeptides, utilizing 3-phosphoadenylate sulfate (PAPS) as a co-substrate. This enzymatic activity plays a crucial role in post-translational modification processes, especially sulfation, which contributes to the structural and functional diversity of proteins.
