- Scientific DescriptionELISA Assay. Detects human vaspin. Does not cross-react with human RBP4, human adiponectin, human Nampt, human leptin or human RELM-beta. Colorimetric assay. Sample Types: Cell Culture Supernatant, Plasma, Serum. Range: 0.016 to 1ng/ml. Sensitivity: 12pg/ml. Vaspin (Visceral adipose tissue-derived serpin; Serpin A12), a serine protease inhibitor (serpin), is an insulin-sensitizing adipocytokine that has been isolated from both visceral and subcutaneous white adipose tissue. Based on recent findings, vaspin is suggested to regulate immune responses and inflammation and was found to be correlated with various metabolic parameters. Human vaspin blood levels are significantly increased in type 2 diabetes mellitus and obese patients. Thus vaspin may represent a novel biomarker for obesity and impaired insulin sensitivity and might serve as a new therapeutic target of metabolic syndrome. - Vaspin (Visceral adipose tissue-derived serpin; Serpin A12), a serine protease inhibitor (serpin), is an insulin-sensitizing adipocytokine that has been isolated from both visceral and subcutaneous white adipose tissue.
