MIP-1 alpha/CCL3 protein, a monokine with inflammatory and chemokinetic properties, binds to CCR1, CCR4, and CCR5 receptors. Produced by CD8+ T-cells, it inhibits various strains of HIV-1, HIV-2, and SIV in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, MIP-1 alpha/CCL3 self-associates and forms a heterodimer with MIP-1-beta(3-69).
