- Antibody SpecificityThis antibody is specific for human CD104. Integrin alpha-6/beta-4 is a receptor for laminin. Plays a critical structural role in the hemidesmosome of epithelial cells. Is required for the regulation of keratinocyte polarity and motility.
- Application Supplier NoteTo investigate the recruitment of plectin into hemidesmosomes by the alpha6beta4 integrin, immunohistochemistry was performed on human MD-EBS keratinocytes using the mouse version of this antibody (Geerts et al, 1999; pmid:10525545). While showing that a subpopulation of cells in a hiPSC-derived corneal epithelial cell sheet is positive for ABCB5, flow cytometry was performed on human hiPSC-derived SEAMs using the mouse version of this antibody (Watanabe et al, 2021; pmid:34195566). The mouse version of this antibody was used in flow cytometry on differentiated human iPS cells to demonstrate the generation of a self-formed ectodermal autonomous multi-zone (SEAM) of ocular cells using human induced pluripotent stem cells (Hayashi et al, 2016; pmid:26958835). To study the intracellular accumulation of S. aureus in the epidermis of DFUs, flow cytometry was performed on single-cell suspensions from full-thickness DFU tissue from type 2 diabetes patients and control skin using the mouse version of this antibody (Pastar et al, 2021; pmid:34730110).
