The binding specificity of the original version of this antibody (VHH) was tested using ELISA. In a cell-based neutralizing assay with hTLR4-overexpressing HEK cells, an agonistic effect was observed, as measured by increased NFkappaB expression after cell lysis compared to the control group, indicating activation or enhancement of TLR activity instead of neutralization (WO2009138494A2).
