- Scientific DescriptionThis gene encodes an alpha integrin. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane glycoproteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain that mediate cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion. The protein encoded by this gene, when bound to the beta 1 chain, forms an integrin that is a receptor for VCAM1, cytotactin and osteopontin. Expression of this gene has been found to be upregulated in small cell lung cancers. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

![Various whole cell extracts (30 μg) were separated by 7.5% SDS-PAGE, and the membrane was blotted with Integrin alpha 9 antibody [N1N2], N-term (GTX102728) diluted at 1:1000. The HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG antibody (GTX213110-01) was used to detect the primary antibody.](https://www.genetex.com/upload/website/prouct_img/normal/GTX102728/GTX102728_40688_20190322_WB_w_23060119_849.webp)
