Tipepidine is a non-narcotic antitussive with an antidepressant-like effect. Tipepidine reversibly inhibits dopamine (DA) D2 receptor-mediated GIRK currents (IDA(GIRK) ) (IC 50 = 7.0 microM) and subsequently activates VTA dopamine neurons.
