The antibody is specificity for human lysozyme. It does not cross react with hen lysozyme.

The binding affinity of the VHH fragment for human lysozyme was measured by surface plasmon resonance (Kd = 0.7 nM) (Dumoulin et al., 2002; PMID: 11847273). The antibody stabilized an unstable human lysozyme mutant that forms fibrils and amyloids.The crystal structure of the original version of the antibody in complex with human lysozyme was determined (Dumoulin et al., 2003; PMID: 12917687). The original antibody was humanized and the binding affinity for human lysozyme was measured by surface plasmon resonance (Kd = 2.36 nM). The crystal structure of the humanized version of the antibody in complex with human lysozyme was determined (Vincke et al., 2009; PMID: 19010777).
