  • Scientific Description
5(6)-Carboxy-2,7-difluorofluorescein is a fluorinated fluorescein used as a fluorescent dye used as a building block for synthesis of fluorescent probes. It is a replacement for the widely used carboxyfluorescein and fluorescein isothiocyanate since the absorption and emission are virtually unchanged. It can be excited with the 488nm spectral line of the argon-ion laser used in flow cytometers and confocal laser scanning microscopes. The lower pKa, increased resistance to photobleaching, high quantum yield, and diminished quenching on protein conjugation make the dyes superior to other fluoresceins for bioconjugation. Spectral data: Absoprtion 492nm, Emmision 516nm - Chemical. CAS: 251450-64-3. Formula: C21H12F2O7. MW: 414.32. 5(6)-Carboxy-2,7-difluorofluorescein is a fluorinated fluorescein used as a fluorescent dye used as a building block for synthesis of fluorescent probes.
