This antibody recognizes all isoforms from Alzheimer PHFs, but none from normal bovine or human brain. This antibody also recognizes Alzheimers disease-associated PHF-Tau in an ELISA with no cross reactivity to normal Tau protein (PMID: 1384266). This antibody shares an overlapping epitope with another anti-tau antibody TAU1 (PMID: 1563356). This antibody strongly reacts with PHF tau in a western blot assay (PMID: 1384266, 1563356, 1376918, 1376245, 7875300). This antibody was also used for the immunohistochemical staining of different tissues of the fetal and adult human central nervous system and an Alzheimer disease patient (PMID: 8506352). This antibody was also used in an immunohistochemical autopsy study to examine p-MAPT neuropathology in the fornix and basal forebrain nuclei of 39 recently archived brain autopsies (PMID: 27793193). It was also used in the immunofluorescent detection of hyperphosphorylated tau (AT8) on a hippocampal section of an Alzheimer disease brain (PMID: 20448485).
