- Scientific DescriptionBilateral symmetric nervous systems have special midline structures that establish a partition between the two mirror image halves. Some axons project toward and across the midline in response to long-range chemoattractants emanating from the midline. The product of this gene is a member of the immunoglobulin gene superfamily and encodes an integral membrane protein that functions in axon guidance and neuronal precursor cell migration. This receptor is activated by SLIT-family proteins, resulting in a repulsive effect on glioma cell guidance in the developing brain. A related gene is located at an adjacent region on chromosome 3. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

![Various whole cell extracts (30 μg) were separated by 5% SDS-PAGE, and the membrane was blotted with ROBO1 antibody [C2C3], C-term (GTX113826) diluted at 1:1000. The HRP-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG antibody (GTX213110-01) was used to detect the primary antibody. Corresponding RNA expression data for the same cell lines are based on Human Protein Atlas program.](https://www.genetex.com/upload/website/prouct_img/normal/GTX113826/GTX113826_41066_20191004_WB_TPM_watermark_w_23060501_823.webp)
